Installation ::
Installation is easy. The Swing comes with a "S"
hook attached for hanging. We also include an eye screw which is
to be installed in the ceiling. The Swing is designed for
an 8' ceiling. It is to be mounted in a rafter, truss or beam. If
you have an open beam ceiling, you can attach to beams, rafters,
or decking, providing the decking is at least 4 inches thick. If
you have a ceiling over 8' you may need a chain to connect the "S"
hook, which is attached to The Swing, to the eye screw in
the ceiling.
The spreader bar is a piece of closet rod (1 1/4" X 44")
which is readily available at any "honey do" (hardware)
store. We also sell a powder coated steel bar. You may
select this on the order form.
Often the best place for installing a swing (both for playing and
safety) is in the middle of a room. So that it is not in your way
or prompting questions from curious friends and family, we suggest
putting a cup hook inside the closet or behind the bathroom door
(someplace where the rest of the world is not) that the swing can
be easily moved to when not in use. That way, the swing is not in
a tangled mess, dusting the floor under the bed at "play time"
— nothing to assemble or untangle. The "mood" isn't
lost in the moment it takes to move it from hook to hook and put
the spreader bar in. Conversely, if you need to store the swing
quickly (mom shows up 3 hours early for dinner), the rod comes out
and the swing is hung out of sight in a few seconds.
To store the swing, remove the spreader bar, and fold inward with
the hook strap hanging out, as shown in the following pictures.
It will fold into itself, and can be stored in a plastic bag from
the grocery store in your closet! Then when you are ready to
hang it again, merely grab the hook and shake it out like a
parachute. Everything falls into place, and you are ready to
put the spreader bar back in and enjoy your swing!
Adjusting the swing is very important. For the man, it is
important to adjust the height of the swing WITHOUT the lady in the
swing. Cup your package in your hand and walk up to the swing.
If it is the right height, this is called In the Ballpark!
When the lady gets in the swing, there is a right
way to do this. Place the forward edge of the swing at the
beginning of your buttocks. As you go to recline in the, use
your elbows to push the rest of the swing behind you. The
gentleman in the following pictures helps the lady place her feet in
the stirrups.
WARNING: When the lady is ready to get out of the
swing, she will be very lightheaded, and will need help. The
lady grabs the spreader bar with both hands, the gentleman holds her
knees together as she rolls out of the swing, and be prepared to
help her stand up. This is when you have a tender moment with
each other!
